Peanut Update

We got the results of Henry's bloodwork and it is good news! The bloodwork came back as "negative" or less than .035 in regard to the amount of antibodies found in his blood. This means that he is still allergic to peanuts (the skin test was positive and is a more sensitive test) but there is a good chance that he could be one of the 20% that outgrows it! Yippee! We still follow the same plan - completely eliminate peanut and tree nuts from his diet. Just because his bloodwork is low, doesn't mean that he's not allergic or that he still can't have a major reaction. They will retest his skin and blood annually, and unless his test results get a lot worse they'll do a "food challenge" (feed him peanuts in the office) around age 4-5 to see if he still has a reaction. Hopefully by then his body will have forgotten to produce antibodies when it sees peanuts, and he can go back to a normal diet! We'll keep you posted on how things go.
