We'd Almost Made It to 18 Months

Life is ironic. A few days ago I recall thinking to myself - "Wow. Jack will turn 18 months on July 20th and we've somehow managed to avoid any major injuries. 18 months and no trip to the ER." Considering how wild and crazy Jack is - this was going to be quite an achievement. But looks like I spoke too soon.

This morning we had our first trip to the ER to get Jack three stitches in his thumb. He stuck his hand in a small space between the oven and the faceplate below it and managed to cut his thumb on a metal edge. (I'm still not sure what he thought he'd find in there!) It wasn't pretty. But we all survived and Jack is doing great. His hand is all bandaged up. It was originally just his thumb that was bandaged, but he easily removed the bandage twice - so now we're wrapping his whole palm in hopes that he can't get it off as easily!

We're thankful for a lot of things today. We're thankful that Jack is okay, that he had a great doctor at the hospital and that he's not in too much pain. We're thankful that we have wonderful family who were able to rush over and help with Henry while we took Jack to the ER. We're thankful that the hospital had a Backyardigans coloring book on hand!!! I've never seen tears stop so quickly!!! And we're thankful that it was Jack's left hand, rather than his right - because he has recently discovered his nostrils and walks around with his right finger up his nose most of the day. Thankfully this injury hasn't slowed that down any!! LOL.

Jack, I hope your finger is feeling better. From the pictures, it looks like you are a very tough boy! That bad boo-boo didn't slow you down much. You got right back to playing with your toys!
