We'll be honest - it's been a rough weekend.


Jack came down with a sudden fever on Saturday evening. We called the doctor, gave him some Ibuprofen, and put him to bed - checking on him every so often to make sure he wasn't burning up. He was fine until about 5:30am when we heard something strange on the monitor (thank God we still use it). We found Jack having a seizure in his crib; it was a febrile seizure, which we now know is caused by a fever that rises very very quickly. We called 911 and Jack was taken to Children's Hospital. He is doing great now - no more fever and pretty much back to his normal silly self. I think Mommy and Daddy are the most shaken up. We weren't aware of febrile seizures - but we've done our research now and are meeting with our pediatrician tomorrow to become even more informed, since up to half of children who have a febrile seizure will have another.
